Inspiration

On September 27, 2024, during catastrophic flooding from Hurricane Helene in the Bumpass Cove area of Unicoi County in east Tennessee, a police canine was swept away by floodwaters. After extensive search efforts by officials and locals, on September 28th, Scotty from the Erwin Police Department was found deceased.

K-9 Scotty was a dedicated police dog serving with the Erwin Police Department in Unicoi County, Tennessee. Partnered with Officer Chad McKinney as part of the department's anti-crime task force, Scotty specialized in detection and apprehension duties, contributing to community safety through his training and loyalty. He was known for his responsiveness to Kong balls, a trait highlighted during community appeals.
